Dave Joyce hails from New Zealand where he started Djing in 1999. Dave caught the
dance music bug in 1990 through mix tapes handed down from his sister Helen.
However, being only a wee lad at this point, raving it up in the lounge was all that
could be done until a fake ID became a viable possibility!
After extensive clubbing, his love of music led to him starting a vinyl collection simply because it took so long for the tunes he heard in clubs to reach compilation CDs in NZ! It was only a matter of time before he was behind the decks and spinning at parties around his home town of Auckland.
Having also played in bands for 10 years, in 2004 Dave decided to lay down the
guitars and dedicate his time to dance music, and is now becoming known for
using his musical knowledge to further his DJing and improve the crowd’s
experience on the dancefloor.
Since moving to London he has gone from strength to strength,
both with his own nights DirtyGroove and Get Busy, and through playing at other
nights across the capital and beyond. Dave’s sound takes in everything from jackin’
techy beats to dirty, nasty electro house with a dash of breaks and techno thrown
in for good measure.
He firmly believes in the importance of mixing up different genres whilst having
the ability to tailor his sets to the crowd. Having recently taken 1st place at
the Inigo DJ competition, and played gigs at top London clubs such as Turnmills,
the Egg, the Key and Pacha, Dave is set to forge ahead through 2006.
His upcoming gigs include playing for the Privilege Ibiza World Tour at London's
Canvas. He has recently played alongside Paolo Mojo, Jon Carter, Hybrid, King Unique,
Tom Neville, King Roc and Marshall Jefferson among others, and his night
DirtyGroove are soon to support Carl Cox at Brixton Academy for the South
West Four launch on April 15th.
